The Industrial Revolution
The Industrial Revolution was the transition to new manufacturing processes that appeared in 1760. This transition included evolving from hand-production methods to machines.
Spread
The Industrial Revolution started in Great Britain and from there it expanded to France and Germany, some of the last european countries to embrace it were Spain and the Ottoman Empire.
Social Effects
Before the Industrial Revolution, most of the workforce was employed in agriculture with low productivity and low salaries. When the high-productivity of the industrial revolution arrived, the working class had for first time a regular payment and increased salaries, even thought the living conditions didn´t improve until the 19th century, the Industrial Revolution set the basics for the improvement of the common people´s living standards.
During this procces, the life expectancy of children increased dramatically, the percentage of children born in London who died before the age of five decreased from 74% in 1730-49 to 31% in 1810-29.
